My Sandwich Brings All the Boys to the Yard. ...err...
Neil, Neil, Neil. You come up with the best ideas.
(He challenged us bloggers to come up with our signature sandwiches. Here's what I came up with. Of course, I believe mine is the Most Awesome.)
The Sarcomical Surprise:
sourdough
solid white tuna
american cheese
dill pickle slices
...all toasted!
Can you beat that? No offense, but I seriously doubt it.
I'm 31. Fabulous.

My wife is a nice person, but she is a total snob. She doesn't let me bring American cheese into the house, saying it isn't "real" cheese. I love American cheese, and I assume you the Sarcomical Surprise, a sexier, updated version of the traditional tuna melt, is only good with solid white tuna and American cheese. Any of those fancier cheeses that you get in the gourmet store would make this sandwich an abomination. I love the simplicity of this brilliant sandwich. In fact, I'm going to make a Sarcomical Surprise myself, using the American cheese that I have hidden behind the potatoes.

Hmmm. I might need to make this for lunch, but I lack the pickle slices. Damn!

Possibly... here is my favorite...
Bacon, tomato and melted white cheddar topped with avocado slices and lots of black pepper on toasted sourdough.
Also excellent on an english muffin...
I do love a good sammich...

@Neil: well, normally i eat lots of those fancy cheeses as well, except you just can't beat american for certain sandwiches. it's just not possible. grilled cheese with something other than american? outrageous! and yes, this one is best with the good old regularness of american as well. ;)
ENJOY.
@Keely: well, that's okay, I GUESS. but some day, my dear. you must try with the pickles.
@PaintingChef: okay, i will admit that sounds very tasty. well done. ;)

I pity your sandwich. Here, have some of mine:
herbed foccacia (toasted)
fresh mozzarella
field greens
basil leaves
balsamic vinaigrette
tomatoes

I lived on a variation of this (whole wheat kaiser), when pregnant the last time :)

Sign me up for one (okay, two) of those -- but I might suggest changing to some old Canadian white cheddar every once in a while. Trust me on that.

Our 2Dolphins Tuna Wrap laughs heartily at your paltry excuses for sammiches:
1 pkg Albacore tuna (in the pouch, not can)
2-3 dollops of real mayo
2 spoonfuls of dill relish
1 finely chopped celery stick
Several liberal pinches of finely chopped parsley & chives
Coupla sprinkles of red pepper flakes
Splash (or two) of Tabasco sauce
Serve with shredded sharp Cheddar cheese and shredded romaine or green leaf lettuce on a Mission Carb Balance whole grain tortilla.
High protein. High fiber. Kick-butt lunch!

Mmm, sandwiches. Something I think I could eat everyday. Try this on for size:
warm croissant
deli turkey
sprouts
tomato slices
provolone cheese
and avocado slices
If you are feeling really frisky, add a few pieces of bacon.

@Megan: okay, you tempted me. very nice. ;)
@Rob O.: ooh, i DO love The Spicy. this one could be a contendah!
@themikestand: i actually was tempted to first make it swiss, but if you want the dill pickles, you can't add anything that'll fight against it.

I meant to comment on this way back when you first posted it. And then I had company for a week & didn't get to it. I just read it again in my feed reader. And my stomach growled same as it did when I first read it. The toasted part just seals the deal.
(Sarcomical) YES! everything is better toasted.
that's a fact.
