Wow, it's been a long time since I put up the Half-Week Haiku, and I must say, you guys are completely out of practice. Ah well, we'll work on that one won't we?
In lieu of Some Things Friday in its normal format, here are Some Things I Loved During my Last Weekend, otherwise affectionately known as The Weekend of Birthday and Anniversary Madness as Depicted in Agonizing Photographic Detail:
I am IN LOVE with the little gift I got myself at the art festival the day before.

The museum was the first stop of the day:

...where I convinced my husband this was how to REALLY enjoy the great artists:

(my flash went off on that one and I thought, "hmmm, how fun would it be to get kicked out of somewhere on my birthday?", but it didn't happen)
So I took this:

And so he wouldn't feel singled out, I did this:

Then of course there was the zoo...

...and I really DO love the zoo. I mean, there are monkeys - MONKEYS! How can you go wrong with monkeys? Really, there has to be something wrong with you if you don't enjoy monkeys.

Elephants make me feel good about the size of my ass.

There was a visit to the butterfly exhibit:

And as always, my favorite ride:

You can't have a birthday without a special dinner, right? Oh holy crap, the dinner:

(I thought those potatoes looked suspiciously perverted)
...this was one of the sweetest drinks (but OH YES BABY) I've ever had - a Sin City Martini rimmed with sugar:

I was really happy about it.

So was he:

Oh guys, this was my FAVORITE part:

(you know I love to swing, right?) Let's just say, we both realized what intestinal fortitude little kids have. We swung until we felt sick.
So that was that day...and the next day was the anniversary - a big pit of LAZY until around 8pm. Then we decided to hang out at the bookstore for 3 hours, buy dinner at Meijer (skipping of course our reservations at the best restaurant in the city for TWO years in a row...what is wrong with us?) and come home and eat it at midnight. Oh but did I tell you? It was gooooooood.

Please ignore the layer of black death on the bottom of the stove - we're lazy, as noted.

Oh, and let's not forget the top of the evening: watching "Meet the Fockers" on DVD while having this:

And here we are celebrating at my parents' house this past Sunday. As you can tell, I just wrapped up one of the longest celebrations in birthday/anniversary history.

Now if I just had REAL money, I could've brought you all with me. Doesn't that make you sad?
By the way, this will be the last until I've returned from my chillout session with the husband in NYC. Are you so jealous? I'm so not going to go to Katz's Deli for the "biggest reuben sandwich EVER! no, really! and if you split it they charge you $5 extra!" (picture this is a hushed voice as said by my mother-in-law several times because every time the subject of New York City comes up this is what she launches into). Anyway, I'll be taking hopefully lots of pics and jotting down good stories. I hope to see lots of crazies.
